Today on the bench of Fenerbahçe, where the story is not going very well by the way, José Mourinho is preparing to face Manchester United in the Europa League this Thursday.
A happy reunion for the Portuguese who occupied the opposing bench from 2016 to 2018, winning a C3 in 2017. “I wish Manchester United the best since the moment I left” declared the coach in a press conference, assuring in passing that he did not have at his time the same confidence that the current management grants to Erik ten Hag. “They (the leaders) support him. The coach stays season after season and that means stability and confidence. They give him the conditions to continue developing his work, which made the difference compared to me.”
Another small moment to note in this press conference, the mockery aimed at United’s neighbor: Manchester City. Embroiled in a trial in which he is accused of 115 alleged violations of the rules of financial fair play established by the Premier League, the English champion could be forced to return some titles acquired during this period, despite his protests.
“We still have a chance to win this championship (2017/2018) because they will perhaps punish Manchester City with points, and perhaps we will win this championship. Manchester United will have to pay me my bonus and give me my medal,” he jokes.
