The Cheetahs’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches against Rwanda and Benin Republic will not feature Benin Republic defender Cédric Hountondji.
The Benin Football Federation reports that Cédric Hountondji is currently recovering from a hamstring injury.
The injury was sustained by the France star while training for Benin Republic’s match against the Rwandan Amavubi on matchday three.
For about a month, the centre-back has been out of commission.
Benin Republic has six points from four games, good for second place in Group D.
To guarantee a spot in Morocco 2025, Gernot Rohr’s team must win the matches against Nigeria and Libya.
Next Thursday, the Cheetahs will play Nigeria at Felix Houphet Boigny Stadium, their temporary home field in Abidjan.
Four days later, they will depart for Libya.
