Ibrahim Sannie Daara, the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) spokesperson, has recently voiced concerns regarding the attitude and performance of some players in the Black Stars. He called on the national team coaches to set higher standards for the squad and address a growing issue: a lack of true commitment from some of the younger players.
In his statement, Daara observed that many of the younger players don’t seem to appreciate the honor of a national team call-up as previous generations did. “A lot of young players don’t value call-ups into the national team. Some of our players have not shown true commitment to the team,” he stated, highlighting what he sees as an alarming shift in attitude among certain players.
He further stressed the need for a more competitive team environment. “A lot of players feel too comfortable in the Black Stars team,” he continued, urging coaches to widen the scope of selection. According to Daara, an expanded pool of eligible players would foster greater competition and encourage the current squad to stay motivated and dedicated to the national cause.
In his remarks, Daara urged the coaching staff to communicate a firm message to the players: there are consequences for lackluster performances. “Coaches should let the players know that there is a price to pay if you don’t perform in the national team,” he insisted.
Daara’s comments underscore the widespread hope that greater discipline and competition will reignite the Black Stars’ passion and commitment to success on the international stage.
