The Kano State governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called for the enhancement of Nigeria-Saudi Arabia relations, emphasising shared perspectives on Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to reshape its economy.
The governor spoke during the 2024 Saudi Arabia National Day celebration in Kano, commemorating the founding of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932.
Represented by his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, Governor Yusuf praised Saudi Arabia’s development and called for collaboration that benefits both nations.
He emphasised that Nigeria can learn from Saudi Arabia’s achievements in economic transformation.
In his remarks, the Consul General of Saudi Arabia in Kano, Mr Khalil Ahmad Adamawi, reflected on the significance of the occasion, noting the kingdom’s economic progress, including a 50% increase in GDP, reduced unemployment, and advancements in housing and tourism.
The event, attended by government officials, traditional rulers, and members of the diplomatic and business communities, featured the presentation of awards to distinguished individuals, marking the importance of Nigeria-Saudi Arabia relations.
