Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has unveiled the 2024 Jos Christmas Family Festival with assurance to make this year’s holiday season spectacular and alluring to prospective tourists billed to visit the state during the season.
The governor, who gave the assurance during the official unveiling of the festival in Jos, Plateau State, said arrangements are in top gear to make it hitch-free, adding that the government is leaving no stone unturned to consolidate the prevailing peace in the state.
Governor Caleb, who was represented by the State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Mr. Musa Ashom, said the festival with the theme “A Beautiful Experience” will definitely be a memorable one, adding that The state government has provided surveillance security drones that covered three kilometers to boost the security architecture of the state.
“Plateau State is a tourist delight; there’s no point travelling out of the state, especially Jos, to holiday elsewhere. The state is endowed with various attractive sites and good weather that is unique compared to other parts of the country. And this informs the reason why we are starting the preparation in time, so it will start in full swing by November.”
According to him, activities lined up for the festival include bike riders, hikers, and those who may want to visit various locations in the state to enjoy the serene beauty of the state, the Christmas Carol, the PRTVC Christmas Tree lighting, and other activities.
In his welcome address, the General Manager, Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Mr. Chuwang Pwajok, said the unveiling ceremony was also to demonstrate the preparedness of the government and what to expect during the festival.
Pwajok said the state is blessed and highly endowed in terms of rich culture and other beautiful and alluringly attractive sites that could be visited by tourists, adding those intending to visit Plateau during the season will have a memorable experience.
“Christmas festivals provide us an opportunity as people and community to engage with one another and to display our hospitality and peaceful disposition towards the people around us and further project the state as a home of peace and tourism.
“So what we are doing here today is inviting all critical stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality sector and announcing to them that the state is ready to compete, project, and present itself as a premier Christmas holiday destination as far as Nigeria is concerned.”
The general manager continues. The idea is to build the month of December into a holiday month in Plateau State so that our friends, loved ones, and associations will find a place to come and spend their special holiday in the state.
