New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) governorship candidate in Gombe State in the 2023 election, Khamisu Mailantarki, has tendered his resignation from the party.
Mailantarki’s decision came after a reflective period following the last governorship election, where he emerged third behind incumbent governor Inuwa Yahaya of the APC and Muhammed Barde of the PDP.
In a resignation letter to his ward chairman at Herwana ward obtained by our correspondent, Mailantarki expressed gratitude to the NNPP for the opportunity given to him to pursue his political aspirations.
He praised the party’s executive members and supporters who stood by him during his 2023 election journey.
“I am writing to inform you of my intention to resign from my position as a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party. This will be effective from Wednesday 10th July, 2024. Please accept my resignation letter and be notified from the date stated above.
“I deeply express my appreciation to all the executive members as well as other who saw me through my entire journey in 2023 elections while contesting for the office of the governor in Gombe State under the platform of the NNPP,” the letter said.
