The South South Youths Initiative, (SSYI) has commended the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara for heeding their call by providing operational vehicles to enhance the operations of the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
National President of SSYI, Comrade Imeabe Oscar who made the commendation in a statement noted that Governor Fubara has demonstrated that he’s a listening and proactive leader.
He said the action would help to improve the security situation of the state, especially with the recent political crisis and will also improve/enhance adequate security in the state.
Recall that shortly after the provision of over 100 vehicles to the police by the Rivers State Government, the group called the attention of the governor on the need to include the NSCDC in his plans.
“We commend the governor for yearning to the call of the South South Youths Initiative for the provision of operational vehicles for the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in the state, we urge him to do more.
“We believe that his prompt response to this call shows that he’s committed to providing quality leadership in the state and portrays him as a leader who listens to his people,” Oscar said.
He used the medium to appeal for calm in the in the state and work with the current administration to encourage the system to do better.
“We also call for calmness in the face of the recent political crisis also calling on stakeholders and political gladiators to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign in the state so that the good people of Rivers State can feel or benefit from current administration.
“Too many conflicting court judgements and injunctions cannot help Rivers State. For once, this state should be in peace and experience good governance,” he said.
The South South Youths leader also called on the government to give opportunities to the group and other meaningful youth organisations in the region to offer services to people of the state.
