Jean-Louis Gasset is well and truly back in Montpellier (MHSC). On the bench of the MHSC to be more precise, because the 70-year-old technician has never abandoned one of his favorite cities.
Sunday evening, he was also in the stands of the Mosson to witness the debacle of MHSC against OM (0-5) and the live dismissal of coach Michel Der Zakarian.
When it came time to fire his coach live, president Laurent Nicollin assured that he had not studied any alternative solution. But in reality, the latter was seen talking with Gasset in the stands of the Mosson for a long time. Very logically, the former coach of the Ivory Coast and ex-coach of OM was announced as the favorite to play the firefighter on duty.
Gasset (already) comes out of retirement
This morning, La Provence assured that the 70-year-old technician had agreed to come out of retirement to help his favorite club (which was founded by his father and Louis Nicollin). A few hours later, L’Équipe confirmed by specifying that Gasset will commit until the end of the season with Montpellier. Unsurprisingly, Gasset will make his return to La Paillade with a few familiar faces.
The daily newspaper adds that the faithful assistant Ghislain Printant will be there. This is Gasset’s third experience as head coach of MHSC. Will he be able to take on this enormous challenge? Last in the Ligue 1 standings, Montpellier faces Toulouse, 15th, this weekend and a victory could already take MHSC out of the red zone.
