The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has apprehended nine individuals suspected of engaging in Internet fraud in Abuja.
This development was announced by the EFCC via its official X.com handle on Tuesday.
According to the commission, the arrests occurred on Monday in the Wuye area of Abuja, following credible intelligence reports suggesting the suspects’ involvement in fraudulent activities.
The EFCC statement read, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abuja Zonal Directorate, have arrested nine suspected Internet fraudsters.
“They were apprehended on Monday, July 29, 2024, in the Wuye area of Abuja following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related fraud.”
The commission also disclosed that various items were recovered from the suspects during the operation.
“Items recovered from them include 19 phones, one car, four laptops, and one iPad,” the statement added.
The EFCC further stated that the suspects would be charged in court as soon as investigations were concluded.
