At the Complex Mohamed VI in Salé, Morocco, on Friday, October 18, the CAF Women’s Champions League Morocco 2024 official draw took place.
The championship match between AS FAR, the hosts, and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, the reigning champions, will be contested by eight (8) clubs from Africa’s top women’s club competition, which will take place in Morocco from November 09–23, 2024.
The top two finishers will get USD 250 000 and USD 400 000 in prize money, respectively.
The qualified teams were divided into two groups of four, with a top two finish ensuring progression to the knockout stages.
The draw was overseen by former Morocco and AS FAR player, as well as U23 Morocco Women’s National Team Assistant Coach, Fatiha Laasiri.
The hosts and 2022 champions, AS FAR, are the stars of Group A, which includes two newcomers from Senegal, Aigles De La Medina, and the University of Western Cape in South Africa.
TP Mazembe, the fourth club in Group A, returns to the tournament after being absent from the last one.
The reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, are going for a record-tying third championship, but they have to go past a challenging Group B that includes three extremely motivated debutants: Ethiopia’s CBE FC, Edo Queens of Nigeria, and Tutankhamun of Egypt.
