Amad Diallo scored a late equaliser as Manchester United held Premier League leaders Liverpool to an exciting 2-2 draw at Anfield on Sunday, making a mockery of their recent performance.
Despite a significantly better performance, it appeared that Ruben Amorim’s United would lose, but Diallo’s goal in the 80th minute gave his team a tie and stopped Liverpool from taking an eight-point lead at the top.
In the 52nd minute, Lisandro Martinez gave United the lead with a fierce shot from a close angle.
However, an off-key Liverpool answered seven minutes later with a brilliant equaliser from Cody Gakpo, and then Mohamed Salah gave the home team the lead from the penalty spot.
Both teams had chances to win in a wild finish after Diallo’s equaliser, with Harry Maguire of United putting a spectacular chance over the crossbar with the game’s final kick.
United supporters were the happiest as they left on a chilly afternoon after witnessing a performance that gave them hope for better things in 2025.
As they aim to match United’s 20 English titles, Liverpool leads the title race with 46 points after 19 games, six points clear of Arsenal with one game remaining.
With 23 points, United rose to 13th place.
