A climate change activist Barrister Iliya Kwache has called on Government to make tree planting a criteria for promotion to mitigate climate change in communities.

Barrister Iliya made this call at the annual conference of the Pastor of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria at the Brunom Junior Seminary Bamba Yola.

Barr kwache said global warming is now a treat and more dangerous than armed conflict hence there is a need to put all hands on desks and provide a lasting solution for a safer society.

Kwache said the pastor’s conference is an avenue where spiritual leaders can take the gospel to bring about change in reducing the effect of climate change and call on Christians to plant at least a tree in their environment.

In his remark, Rev. Musa Panti fillibus the Arc Bishop of the Lutheran Church said climate change is a global reality whether we are cautious or not there is a need to raise awareness that people should understand that the environment should be sustained.

According to the Reverend all the conflict experienced by farmers and herders are as a result of climate change and the damage cannot be quantified.

He therefore called on all the pastors that attended the conference to try and plant a tree and also called on members of the church to also plant in schools, churches and even the communities.

The conference is attended by over 600 pastors across Nigeria.
