The Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassador’s Network (CYPAN), under the leadership of Secretary General – Nigeria, Amb. Mustapha Tukur has announced the launch of a new project focused on youth, peace, and security in Nigeria.
The project aims to address issues of violence, extremism, complex conflicts, cyber security, and build the capacities of vigilante and hunter groups in the country.
The project, which will last for two years, is supported by the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Government of Nigeria. It is a testament to CYPAN’s commitment to promoting peace and security among young people in Nigeria and beyond.
“We are excited to embark on this important project, which will engage young people in peacebuilding efforts and empower them to contribute to a more peaceful and secure Nigeria,” said Amb. Mustapha Tukur. “We believe that young people have a crucial role to play in shaping the future of their country, and we are committed to providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed.”
The project will involve a series of activities, including:
* Training and capacity building for young people on peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and leadership skills
* Community-based initiatives to promote peace and security, such as peace clubs and dialogue sessions
* Research and advocacy on issues related to youth, peace, and security
* Collaboration with government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective peacebuilding strategies
CYPAN has already established strong partnerships with key stakeholders in Nigeria, including the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Federal Ministry of Youth, the Police at various states, and other relevant government agencies. These partnerships will be essential in ensuring the success of the project.
