2024 is one of the years that will be remembered by a top Nollywood actress and producer, Chioma Rose Ukeaja who shone brightly at the just concluded Abia State International Film Festival.

At the just concluded 2024 Abia International Film Festival, Rose Ukeaja won the Best Picture award with her movie titled, “Slap of Destiny”

The Movie features leading actors and actresses across the Nigerian film industry which include Ejike Asiegbu, Tony Umez, Nosa Rex and Mercy Aigbe.

Other actors in the movie include Florence Sunday, Felix Ugo Omokhodion, Fred Aminu and herself.

The flick was directed by ace cinematographer Perekeme Odom. The Story was written by Jerry Okpan.

Abia International Film Festival in its maiden edition, held from December 20 to 22nd, saw a huge gathering of leading personalities from the motion picture industry in the country and Africa.

The Ikwuano Abia state Indigene came tops among other movie producers who also submitted bids across different categories.

Speaking further, the organizers disclosed that the participation of Rose Ukeaja’s movie Slap of Destiny has added value to the richness of the Festival.

A versatile Nollywood actress, Chioma Rose Ukeaja began her movie career as a makeup artist in 2014. She produced her first movie Nemesis in 2017.

Chioma has gone further to produce many award-winning flicks such as Love Over Marriage, Unforgiven Soul, Heavy Heart and Zara
Her latest movie Roza and the Kids was released on Christmas Day,2024 on her YouTube Channel, Sparkling Rose TV and like other works from her stable, promises to be one that would be both captivating and entertaining

She is the CEO of Sparkling Rose Films Production Ltd and the owner of Sparkling Rose TV.

..Commends Makinde for shelving birthday celebration

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Nigerians to use the occasion of this year’s Christmas to promote and strengthen the bond of love, unity and care among themselves, regardless of creed, class or divisive considerations.

The party also commended Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde, for the cancellation of all activities relating to his birthday, which is said, was in solidarity and compassion towards the families of the deceased children and the injured in the recent tragic stampede at a private children’s fun fair event in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

PDP in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba on Wednesday, said it is only through unity that Nigerians could survive the prevailing hardship in the country occasioned by the anti-people policies and misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Christmas, the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ serves as a refreshing reminder of God’s eternal love to mankind and His willingness to grant divine solution to every challenge of life, including the problems we face as a nation,” the party stated.

PDP lamented that due to the level of poverty in the country, millions of Nigerians are no longer able to afford their daily meals, with most families not having the resources to travel to celebrate and bond with their loved ones as usual.

“Some of those who travelled are stranded on the many dilapidated highways with no hope in sight. There is a general sense of gloom and despondency due to the prevailing hardship at this time,” the party added.

It however urged Nigerians not to give up hope or allow the sufferings they face at this time to make them lose sight of the blessings of Christmas and its message of hope and assurance of light at the end of the tunnel.

“Nigerians must therefore stand by and share with one another at this time so that the joy of the season can spread to all,” PDP advised.

The party said Governor Makinde’s decision to cancel his birthday celebration “is in line with his stance that the purpose and essence of leadership is in pursuing the wellbeing and comfort of others and not self.

“Such distinguishes him as a leader with empathy and who at all times has the people’s interest and wellbeing at heart.”

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje has charged Nigerians to embrace togetherness and mutual respect, which he said are essential for national cohesion.

The APC National Chairman gave the charge in his Christmas message to Nigerians.

In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Edwin Olofu, he said, “On behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC) family and its leadership l warmly congratulates Christians across Nigeria on the joyous occasion of Christmas.

“The festive season serves as a reminder of the values of love, peace, and unity, as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

“It is a time for reflection, thanksgiving, and fostering bonds of harmony that strengthen our collective resolve to build a prosperous and united nation.”

Olofu further said, “Ganduje calls on all Nigerians, irrespective of faith or background, to embrace the spirit of togetherness and mutual respect, which are essential for national cohesion.

“He further emphasizes the need for selflessness, generosity, and care for the less privileged, especially during this season of giving.

“Ganduje further enjoined Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the bold economic reforms he has embarked upon which have brought discomfort to many, noting that already results of the reforms are already beginning to be seen.

“He assured that by next year’s Christmas the economy would have stabilized and better, nothing that the government’s effort in securing the country is yielding results as cases of banditry and kidnapping have significantly reduced.”

Also, the CPS said, “The former governor of Kano State added that as the nation navigates its developmental challenges, the APC leadership remains committed to promoting policies and programs that will bring about sustainable growth, security, and improved welfare for all citizens.

“The National Chairman urges all Nigerians to use this festive period to pray for the continued peace, stability, and prosperity of the country, as well as for the success of our leaders at all levels of government.”
