Carlo Ancelotti, in his fourth consecutive season as Real Madrid’s head coach, appears ready to bid farewell to the club at the end of the current campaign.
The Italian tactician, who also led Los Blancos from 2013 to 2015, is determined to step down after achieving what he set out to do during his second tenure in Madrid. Despite being involved in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League, and finding success with new stars like Kylian Mbappé, Ancelotti believes it is time to close this chapter.
According to reports from Onda Cero, Ancelotti, who is under contract until June 2026, has made up his mind to leave this summer regardless of the team’s results. While he is not considering retirement just yet, the 65-year-old is ready to move on from the Santiago Bernabéu.
To replace him, Real Madrid has already identified Xabi Alonso, the current Bayer Leverkusen coach and former Madrid player, as their top candidate. However, securing Alonso’s services might prove challenging, making the coming months crucial for the club’s future planning.
