Shortly after the start of Fiorentina’s Serie A match against Inter Milan on Sunday, midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed and was rushed off the pitch in an ambulance.
After being taken to the Careggi Hospital in Florence, which is close to the Stadio Franchi, Bove was reportedly breathing on his own and had regained consciousness, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The game was then halted and rescheduled for a later time, according to a Serie A representative.
When Lautaro Martinez, 22, seemed to kneel down to remove his boot in the 17th minute, he abruptly collapsed, halting play at the stadium to evaluate a possible VAR check on a disallowed goal.
Bove, who joined the team on loan from AS Roma in August, was surrounded by Fiorentina players as medical staff hurried onto the pitch.
The referee directed the players to leave the ground and head back to the dressing room after Bove was taken away in an ambulance.
