Ryan Christie’s masterful goal and a Justin Kluivert penalty handed Bournemouth a shocking 2-0 Premier League victory over a 10-man Arsenal team at home on Saturday.
William Saliba, a defender for the Gunners, was shown a straight red card in the first half.
After a VAR review upgraded Saliba’s yellow card for bringing down Evanlison from yellow to red, Arsenal lost their unbeaten start to the league season.
This came at a crucial juncture, as they were already without Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka due to injuries.
In the 70th minute, Christie broke the deadlock for Bournemouth after making the most of their one-man advantage to pin the visitors back.
Kluivert, a fellow substitute, flicked a low corner into his path, and the 29-year-old hammered it into the top corner.
Seven minutes later, goalie David Raya upended Evanilson in the box, making it 2-0 and giving the Cherries three well-earned points.
Kluivert’s penalty kick made it much worse for Arsenal.
