Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Mohammed Auwal Jatau on Thursday promised that the state task force on primary healthcare will work with the Africa Health Budget Network in its advocacy for policies that prioritise health funding in a move to ensure that no child is left unprotected.
Speaking when he received officials of the network on an advocacy visit to his office, Jatau noted that their advocacy for increased funding for immunisation resonates deeply with Governor Bala Mohammed administration’s vision for a healthier Bauchi State.
He applauded the Africa Health Budget Network for its unwavering commitment towards improving health outcomes in the state, saying that the present administration in Bauchi has recognised that immunisation is a cornerstone of public health, safeguarding children and communities from preventable diseases.
The Deputy Governor said in its efforts to implement routine immunisation effectively, the state government has been working alongside various stakeholders which has your provided invaluable support not only raising awareness, but also ensuring that government’s health policies are adequately funded and implemented.
According to him, “As we know, immunization is not merely a health intervention, but it is a social imperative. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that every child in Bauchi State receives the vaccines they need to grow healthy and thrive.
“Your visit today serves as a timely reminder that we must intensify our efforts to engage with all stakeholders, from government officials to community leaders, to create a sustainable and effective immunisation strategy.”
Auwal Jatau briefed the visitors on the gains achieved in the releases of the state’s counterpart in the PHC MoU basket for immunisation by Governor Bala Mohammed led administration.
He pointed out that the state has also allocated 16 percent for the Health sector which is above the 15 per cent of the Abuja declaration.
On his part, Dr Aminu Magashi, the Lead Focal Person for the Africa Health Budget Network solicited for the support and cooperation of the Deputy Governor for the successful implementation of the network’s ZDLH Community of Practice (CoP) in the identified zero dose communities in Bauchi state.
