Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy provided a positive update on his squad ahead of their upcoming fixture, confirming that Jordan Ayew is set to return from suspension.
“Jordan Ayew is back after suspension. Wout Faes has been training individually so far but he will be back in team training from today onwards so we will look at how he continues his progress. These two I think we can add to the team hopefully,” van Nistelrooy stated during his pre-match press conference.
Ayew’s return comes at a crucial time for Leicester City as they look to strengthen their attacking options. So far this season, Ayew has been an important figure for the Foxes, featuring in 20 matches, scoring five goals, and providing one assist. His contributions have been vital, including a goal on Boxing Day against League leaders though not enough to help secure a key point(s) for Leicester. However, his absence in the match against Manchester City due to suspension was felt by the team.
Meanwhile, the return of Wout Faes to full team training is another boost for Leicester City. Faes has been working individually as part of his recovery process, and his return to collective sessions signals progress in his rehabilitation.
Van Nistelrooy expressed optimism about integrating both players back into the squad, underlining their importance to the team as they aim to push forward in the league campaign.
