Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno has charged the reelected chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Elder Aniekan Akpan and his Executive Committee to conquer new territories and expand the membership base of the party.
The governor stated this while addressing the State Party Congress, after the election of the party executive at Uyo Township Stadium on Saturday.
He said, “Let me seize this opportunity to congratulate you on your well deserved election into our party new executive committee. I charge you to keep our party afloat and conquer new territories and expand the membership base of the party.”
While congratulating the immediate past party EXCO for leading the party to victory in various elections in the state, the governor called on all party faithful to give the new executive committee the necessary support to succeed in the tasks ahead especially, the October 5 local government election.
Eno appreciated his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, for taking part in the Congress. He also thanked alongside representatives from the national secretariat, and the Congress Organising Committee, led by Engr Uwem Okoko, for what he described as a well organised congress.
In his remarks, the immediate past governor, Udom Emmanuel, appreciated the party leadership for successfully driving the party to success and supporting Eno to victory in the 2023 elections.
In his acceptance speech, the reelected Chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan assured that the EXCO will work together to maintain the winning history of the party and more importantly, to ensure the re-election of Eno in 2027.
