Augustine Eguavoen, the Super Eagles’ interim coach, has announced that his team is in Abidjan to defeat the Benin Republic’s Cheetahs.
The Super Eagles will need just one point to guarantee their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals, which Morocco will host.
However, Eguavoen stated that they aim to win the game with as many points as possible.
“We’ll fight for every ball and for every point, and that’s what we want to do tomorrow (today),”he told the Super Eagles media.
“In respect to that, Benin is not a pushover, but we will work hard to make sure we achieve our objective.”
Gernot Rohr, the head coach of the Cheetahs, has been with the team for around six years, according to Eguavoen.
But according to the former defender, they are also aware of what to anticipate from their opponent.
“We worked with Gernot Rohr for so many years.
” He was our head coach, and he’s a very good one, no doubt.
“He knows us in and out, he’s part of us, but we know him inside out as well,” he added.
“We know what he’s capable of, and he knows Nigeria is a country you don’t toil with.
“We respect them, and we’ll play with the mindset that we come into games with and that’s to win, but it’s easier said than done.”
