Delta Queens defeated Benue Queens 2-0 to claim their first victory in the 2025 Nigeria Women Premier League NWFL Premiership at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba.
After losing 1-0 to Bayelsa Queens in Matchday 1 of the NWFL last week, Delta Queens put up a dogged performance against the newly promoted Benue Queens.
The hosts in a quest to get an early goal, pegged their visitors to their own half and their push paid off on the 12th minute as Adams Princess capitalized a poorly cleared ball to give Delta Queens the lead.
Unsatisfied with the one goal lead, Delta Queens mounted more pressure on Benue Queens as they caught the visitors off guard with a quick counter attack and it was Adams who finished camly in the 43rd minute fo make it 2-0.
Delta Queens could have increased the tally as they missed many clear cut chances heading to the break.
