Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have gunned down a suspected kidnapper and apprehended another during a high-risk operation at the Holma Mountains in Song Local Government Area.
The command revealed that the raid, conducted by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in collaboration with local hunters, targeted a notorious kidnappers’ hideout.
Upon sighting the security team, the armed criminals opened fire in an attempt to resist arrest.
A fierce gunfight ensued, leading to the death of one suspect while others fled with bullet wounds. One of the suspects, identified as Mohammed Sale, was captured at the scene.
The police recovered a significant cache of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, two locally made guns, and five rounds of live ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the operatives and their local security partners for their swift and coordinated response. He urged sustained efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents.
Morris also called on the public to report any suspicious individuals, particularly those with gunshot injuries, to the authorities.
The arrested suspect is currently in police custody, providing valuable information to aid ongoing investigations.
