No fewer than 100 youths, suspected to be involved in internet fraud, have been apprehended by military personnel from the 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army Barracks at the Army Estate in Effurun, Uvwie LGA of Delta State.

City & Crime reports that the arrests were made following intelligence reports that led to the discovery of a training ground for aspiring cybercriminals.

Sources, who do not want their names in print, said about 150 of them were arrested during the raids that took place early and late Saturday.

An insider also said, “The training facility was raided by soldiers in the early hours of Saturday. The soldiers acted on intelligence reports.

‘’The alleged owner of the facility, along with his accomplices, were also captured during the operation.

“Military authorities at the 3 Battalion Barracks have since handed over the suspects to the police at Ekpan in Uvwie for prosecution.’’

When contacted for comment, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests but did not provide further details on how the suspects were apprehended.
