The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has handed over the FIFA for Schools footballs to the Muchinga Province education office as part of the tripartite agreeing among FAZ and the ministries of sports and education.
FAZ Muchinga Province chairperson Collins Mukwala also introduced the three FIFA trained teachers as trainers of trainers who will in turn empower other teachers as part of the implementation process.
Other members of the FAZ entourage were youth representative Israel Sichali and registar Alfred Kaira.
Provincial education officer Alexander Mulenga welcomed the FAZ provincial entourage and thanked them for fulfilling the programme.
Mukwala said the FIFA for Schools program would transform football in the province. “The match balls will soon be received by all the beneficiaries in the province. FAZ has already handed over the balls to the ministry of education headquarters in Lusaka”
The Provincial Education Officer thanked the entourage for the gesture and the whole arrangement. “Among the benefits this programme will bring include, revamping of physical education in schools, promotion of both men and women football in schools and reduction of various chronic diseases among pupils through football,” Mulenga said.
He further promised to support FAZ through sports development both at provincial and district level through football development. The provincial education officer concluded by further promising to work hand in hand with the FIFA trained teachers in football development by involving them in both training of the sports teachers and distribution of match balls in schools.
FAZ through its partnership with FIFA has distributed 12,000 footballs across the 10 provinces as part of the robust youth development drive.
