Shabana FC head coach Peter Okidi has opened up on the type of players that he will be shopping for in the January mid-season transfer window.
Okidi’s tenure as the head coach of the Kisii-based side has brought with it good fortunes as the club has turned around results and moved from the relegation zone of the FKF Premier League to their current ninth position.
Despite the relatively good results, there have been concerns over some players opting out of matches due to unpaid dues and now the former Nakuru All Stars tactician has disclosed his strategy in the upcoming transfer window.
“We will be going for players who can bring energy to the team. Players with the right mindset and who will have the club’s interest at heart. Shabana is a big club and so are the players that should be here,” said Okidi.
The Glamour Boys lost their last match against Mathare United played on Saturday 21 December, and Okidi shared his assessment of the game. “We had gone into the match with the aim of picking the maximum points but in the first 15 or so minutes, our midfield did not play according to instructions and that is why we had to make early changes,” he stated.
