Bayer Leverkusen defender and Dutch international of Ghanaian descent, Jeremie Frimpong, has arrived in Ghana to reconnect with his roots. The dynamic fullback’s visit fulfills a desire he expressed earlier this month to experience the country of his heritage.
Upon his arrival, Frimpong shared his excitement and emotional connection to Ghana. “I have always been connected to my Ghanaian roots, both of my parents are Ghanaian. I eat Ghanaian food, I speak the language, so I feel like I have always been connected, but obviously, being here makes it extra special,” he told the media.
Frimpong’s trip is not only personal but also purposeful. He highlighted his ongoing project, Pathways Cooperative, which aims to give back to the Ghanaian community. “Of course, I have a project called Pathways Cooperative in Ghana here, and so you have to bring it back to your people. To come to this welcoming atmosphere, for the first time, amazing. This is my people. I am so happy to see everybody, and I am so happy to be in Ghana,” he added.
The visit marks Frimpong’s first time in Ghana, and he has been warmly received by fans and locals eager to meet the talented player. His presence has brought excitement to the local football community, with many seeing his return as an inspiration for young athletes.
As Frimpong explores his heritage, his visit is expected to foster deeper ties between him and the country of his ancestry, further strengthening the bridge between Ghana and its diaspora. His journey symbolizes pride, connection, and the desire to contribute to his roots.
