The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has arrived in Kenya to tour facilities ahead of co-hosting the 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
A statement from FKF confirmed: “This evening, FKF President Hussein Mohammed welcomed CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and his team at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as they arrived in the country to assess infrastructure set for hosting the CHAN tournament.
“The government in collaboration with FKF are working round the clock to ensure all the necessary infrastructure set for hosting the tournament are completed in time and that our clubs and the National teams have quality facilities after the tournament.”
Motsepe visited Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar on Thursday. In Tanzania, the CAF President visited the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam where he inspected its readiness to host matches in the CHAN competition.
Motsepe thanked Tanzania’s President, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her commitment and support of football development in the country. Motsepe also met with Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi at the State House.
The CAF President was joined by CAF 4th Vice-President Seidou Mbombo Njoya, Chairperson of the CHAN Organising Committee, Tanzania Football Federation President Wallace Karia and CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba.
