Two women football stars, Grace Chanda and Prisca Chilufya have made a hearty gesture by donating vital sports equipment to their former Club, Red Arrows Women’s Football Club to appreciate the Club that has shaped their careers.
And in appreciating the Air Force’s relentless support in pushing Red Arrows Women’s Football Club and careers of many girls at the Club, Grace Chanda has given the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Commander, Lt Gen Oscar Nyoni as an honour, the Orlado Pride Championship Medal won in their USA National Women’s League last Month.
Chanda, who spoke on behalf of Chilufya, said the two and many other girls were greatful for what ZAF and Command has done to get to where they are now.
She said the donation was just a token of expressing gratitude and encouraging others in the team and beyond so that they also continue working hard and make a big difference in future more than what the two of them had donated.
The donation, which included 20 agility huddles, 30 footballs, 60 plate cons, 40 bibs, whistles and 20 replica jerseys, was received by the Zambia Air Force Chief of Training, Brig Gen Geoffery Hambulo, on behalf of the ZAF Commander.
And in a speech read on his behalf by Brig Gen Hambulo, ZAF Commander said that the event was not just about a donation, but a huge celebration of success, humility and a deep sense of belonging for the two Red Arrows Women’s Football Club proffessional players.
The Air Force Commander described the donation as a powerful reminder to other athletes that greatness is possible through hard work, sacrifice and resilience and that success is not just about reaching the pinnacle of their careers but remembering where they come from, through the culture of giving back.
