KCCA returned to winning ways on Sunday by beating struggling Wakiso Giants 2-1 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium to move third in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.
Forward Etienne Katenga was the mastermind for KCCA’s win, scoring the first goal and creating the winner for substitute Emmanuel Anyama. Hudson Mbalire got Wakiso’s consolation.
The Lugogo side’s sixth win in 12 matches moved them up to third in the table and within four points of leaders NEC, who have 26.KCCA’s victory ended a run of four games without a win for coach Abdallah Mubiru’s side.
In Wakiso, KCCA took the lead in the 15th minute when Katenga controlled a low cross from Sharif Ssengendo to place the ball beyond the advancing Wakiso goalkeeper James Alitho.
Wakiso responded seven minutes later when Timothy Oyamo crossed from the right for Mbalire to level.
KCCA’s winner arrived when Katenga escaped his markers down the left before lifting the ball to the far post for substitute Anyama to connect home.
Wakiso pushed for an equaliser but KCCA held on for all three points.
