All is set for the highly anticipated Destination Lagos Awards 2024, where the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other credible tourism and hospitality stakeholders in Lagos who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the industry will be honoured.
The Destination Lagos Awards 2024, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, December 27, aims to recognise and celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations that have demonstrated excellence in tourism and hospitality. The event promises to be an evening of glamour and celebration, bringing together key stakeholders in the industry.
In preparation for the big day, the team of organisers, accompanied by the Managing Director of Donias and Head of the Expatriate Communities Committee, Mr. Diwesh, made a final visit to the JK Randle Cultural Centre, Onikan, Lagos, the venue of the event, yesterday. This final inspection ensures that every detail is in place for a successful and memorable event.
While addressing the media team during the visit, the Director of the facility, Mr Qudus, stated: “We are delighted to host the Destination Lagos Awards 2024 at the JK Randle Cultural Centre. Our facility is committed to promoting arts, culture, and tourism in Lagos State, and this event aligns perfectly with our mission.”
Mr Qudus promised his total support in ensuring a hitch-free maiden edition of the Destination Lagos Awards, saying: “We will provide all necessary support to ensure the event is a huge success. We are committed to making the JK Randle Cultural Centre a befitting venue for this prestigious awards ceremony.”
Mr Diwesh expressed his excitement about the event, saying: “The Destination Lagos Awards 2024 is a unique opportunity for us to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Lagos State and honour the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations in the tourism and hospitality industry. We are committed to making this event a resounding success.”
The newly elected National Vice President of the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN), Hon. Apata Samson Nunayon, covering the South West Region, and the immediate past Chairman of the Lagos Chapter, and Project Director of the Destination Lagos Awards, as well as CEO of Eko Destination Ltd, commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s efforts in tourism development in Lagos, saying: “The Governor’s administration has been instrumental in promoting tourism in Lagos State. His vision for tourism development is unparalleled, and we are proud to recognize his efforts through the Destination Lagos Awards.”
Apata highlighted the Governor’s achievements in the tourism sector, including the development of the Lagos State Tourism Master Plan, which aims to harness and develop the state’s tourism resources into different products of attraction for both inbound and outbound tourists. He also praised the Governor’s commitment to completing key tourism infrastructure projects, including the JK Randle Centre for Yoruba Arts and Culture, which has become a symbol of peace and culture in Lagos and by extension South West Region of Nigeria.
The event promises to be an exciting celebration of Lagos State’s rich cultural heritage, with a lineup of activities that include: cultural performances showcasing the diversity of Lagos State’s cultural heritage; an art and crafts exhibition featuring the works of local artists and artisans; fashion display highlighting the latest trends in Lagos fashion industry; beauty pageant tagged “Oju Ibile Eko”; and super cultural performance by the Indian community in Lagos.
