After defeating Rivers United 1-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, where Collins Ugwueze scored the game-winning goal in the 15th minute, Rangers moved up to third place with 27 points.
In Yenagoa, Bayelsa United ended Ikorodu City’s winning streak by defeating the visitors 1-0, with Rabiu Abdullahi scoring the game-winning goal 11 minutes from time.
Abba Adam scored the game-winning goal as Kano Pillars defeated Katsina United 1-0 at the Sanni Abacha Stadium.
In other news, Abia Warriors defeated the Niger Tornadoes 2-1.
After 21 minutes, Ijeoma Desouza gave the home team the lead, and four minutes before the hour, Ernest Okonkwo’s own goal made it 2-0.
In extra time, Ahmed Family gave the Tornadoes a goal back.
Heartland was defeated 3-2 in Jos by former champion Plateau United.
On Sunday, Pam Mafeng scored the other goal, while Anthony scored two goals for the home squad.
Tobi Iyanda helped Heartland achieve its objectives.
Remo Stars returned to winning ways following a 2-0 victory at Ikenne over El Kanemi Warriors.
Two first half goals from Peter Onuoha in the 31st minute and Franck Mawuena at added time of the first half ensured the Sky Blues get the maximum points.
Matchday 16 will be wrapped up on Monday when Akwa United host Bendel Insurance in the South-South derby.
