Ruben Amorim has cast doubt on whether Mikel Arteta would have been granted the same patience to succeed at Old Trafford.
The Manchester United manager claims Arteta wouldn’t have been given the opportunity to turn things around as he did at Arsenal, if he was United boss.
Arteta, who celebrates his fifth anniversary as Arsenal boss this month, overcame early struggles to transform the Gunners into Premier League title contenders, although his only silverware remains the 2020 FA Cup.
Amorim remarked on the stark differences in expectations between United and Arsenal, saying:
“Manchester United is a little bit different. All the attention and judgment here makes it harder to have that kind of time.”
Arteta endured challenging moments, including narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification to Tottenham in 2022.
But Amorim lauded his ability to maintain composure during tough times. He added:
“What he has been doing at Arsenal is amazing. He transformed the team and brought in youngsters who are now big talents.”
