Popular social media critic VeryDarkMan has challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to share the mug shot of former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello.
VeryDarkMan said this after the report of Bello’s arrest went viral online.
DAILY POST reports that the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, that Yahaya Bello was arrested in Abuja on Tuesday, November 26, at about 12:54 pm.
EFCC, earlier in April, declared Bello wanted over an alleged N80.2 billion money laundering.
Reacting to the news of his arrest in a trending video on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan explained that a source told him that the former governor had earlier met with the EFCC chairman.
While urging the commission to exonerate itself, he challenged the EFCC to also post a picture of Bello holding a placard on its site.
He, however, noted that he would have to believe his source if the EFCC failed to share Bello’s mugshot to confirm his arrest.
“Nigeria, don’t be too excited that the EFCC is fighting corruption because this might be a lie based on what I’m hearing now.
“So all this that is happening might have been an ‘arrangy’ so that people will think that Yahaya Bello has been arrested and the EFCC will retain their integrity by saying that they have arrested him and they are fighting corruption.
“I don’t even believe the source but if EFCC wants to clear their names off the allegation, they should post Yahaya Bello just the way they have been posting other people. They should give him a placard and share a picture of him holding the placard.”
