Fairly convicted in a tax fraud case, Gareth Southgate could soon be knighted by the crown of England.
An honor that would be offered to the former England coach (116 matches, 2016-2024) to reward him for his work at the head of the Three Lions.
The one who managed to qualify for two consecutive Euro finals with England could therefore soon become: Sir Gareth Southgate.
“Now that he has cleaned his slate, people are talking about him becoming ‘Sir Gareth’,” reports The Sun.
Becoming a knight is one of the highest possible distinctions for a citizen of the Commonwealth. In the event of knighthood, Southgate would join the very exclusive club of ‘Sirs’ among the Three Lions coaches, joining Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey.
