FKF aspirant Barry Otieno vows to professionalize management of FKF leagues

by admin

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Presidential aspirant Barry Otieno has vowed to professionalize management of FKF leagues and Cup competitions if he gets elected to office.

The former FKF CEO made the remarks after holding a consultative meeting with officials from ten FKF Premier League clubs in Nairobi. The meeting formed part of Otieno’s ongoing campaign, where he is sharing his team’s vision for the future of Kenyan football. His agenda is centered on transforming the football land-scape by focusing on four key pillars.

The four pillars include better involvement of clubs in the professionalization and management of the FKF leagues and Cup Competitions, strengthening FKF’s governance structures by empowering FKF branches, committees, and judicial bodies, investing in capacity building for football administrators in key areas including commercialization of football assets, communication and marketing, legal aspects, and strategic planning and clear pathways for our talented youth, both boys and girls to reach their full potential.

“Our team believes in the immense potential of Kenyan football. With your support, we can transform this potential into reality. Together, we can build a Federation that not only wins on the pitch but also excels in governance, development, and administration,” Otieno told the clubs present.

During the meeting, Otieno gathered feedback from the clubs to further refine his manifesto, ensuring that the needs of the stakeholders are at the heart of his campaign.

As part of his broader engagement strategy, Otieno has further lined up additional consultative meetings with clubs from the National Super League, Division One League, and Women’s Premier and National Super League, as well as officials from the FKF county branches.

These discussions will continue to shape his roadmap as he continues to position his candidature as the best choice for the upcoming FKF national elections slated for December 7.

Apart from Otieno, the FKF Electoral Board has cleared all the nine candidates, who presented their nomination papers for the top seat. They include Hussein Mohammed, CEO of Extreme Sports, outgoing FKF Vice-President Doris Petra, Gor Mahia Secretary-General Sam Ochola, former international Sammy Owino ‘Kempes’, ex-FKF president Sam Nyamweya, Tom Alila, Cleophas ‘Toto’ Shimanyula, and outgoing FKF NEC member Chris Amimo.
