The Williams brothers were the stars of the show as Athletic Bilbao secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Espanyol. Inaki Williams bagged a brace, while Nico Williams contributed with a vital assist in a dominant performance.
Athletic got off to a flying start, opening the scoring in the 6th minute. Nico’s pinpoint assist found Dani Vivian, who slotted home to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. With momentum on their side, Athletic continued to pile on the pressure, and in the 28th minute, Inaki Williams doubled the advantage with a clinical finish, making it 2-0.
Just two minutes later, Inaki struck again to complete his brace, extending the lead to 3-0 as Espanyol’s defense crumbled. The first half ended with the home side firmly in control, taking a comfortable three-goal cushion into the break.
The second half began in much the same way, with Athletic dominating proceedings. Alex Berenguer, who had been instrumental in Inaki’s two goals, registered his goal, leaving the visitors reeling at 4-0.
Espanyol did manage a consolation goal deep into stoppage time, scoring in the 90+2nd minute, but it was too little too late. The match ended 4-1 in favor of Athletic, with the Williams brothers leading their team to a resounding victory.
