When Algeria visits Togo on Monday night in Lome for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, they will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten record.
In Group E of this competition, the hosts are now in third place, while the visitors are comfortably leading the standings with a five-point lead over Equatorial Guinea in second place.
Algerian football has had a strange year, losing all of their games in the AFCON for the second time in a row, but they have played quite well both before and after the tournament in the Ivory Coast.
Last week, the Desert Warriors put on an outstanding second half display, scoring four goals in less than thirty minutes to demolish Togo 5-1 in their backyard.
This performance put them in a great position. In the meantime, the hosts’ chances of making it to AFCON 2025 are currently quite slim.
In order to have a chance of placing second in the group, Togo will need to win both of their remaining qualifiers if they lose this week and Equatorial Guinea defeats Liberia once more.
