NPFL Clubs Risk License Revoking Over Unpaid Wages To Players And Coaches

by admin

The Nigeria Football Federation has given teams that are currently dealing with complaints about unpaid invoices and contract violations until Monday, October 14, 2024, to either settle the issues or risk having their new players’ licenses revoked indefinitely.

The NPFL had earlier, at the request of the NFF Players Status Committee, extended the grace period for the affected clubs until Friday, October 11.

The licenses of any newly signed players from any of the impacted clubs whose cases are still pending will be cancelled until the problems are fixed.

The following clubs are being sued: Heartland, 3SC, Bendel Insurance, Kwara United, Lobi Stars, El-Kanemi, Abia Warriors, Enyimba, Katsina United, and Akwa United; these teams are accused of contract violations and past due payables.

Aputazie Ugochukwu, Austin Osayande, Patrick Nwogbara, Coach Kennedy Boboye, Ezekiel Bassey, Stephen Chukwudi, Itodo Ocheme, Prince Momoh, Ifeanyi Anyanwu, Austin Osayande, and Chukwudi Esobe are among the people with whom Heartland has complaints over past-due payables and contract violations. Ikedinachi Nwakanma (N4m), Julius Obinna (N3m), Imoh Azubuike (N3.15m), and Victor Alegbe (N5m) are among the unresolved arbitration issues that Abia Warriors has.

While Katsina Utd has the similar problem with Coach Usman Abd’Allah (N7.7m), Coach Nasir Salisu (N1.25m), and Coach Tony Bolus (N8m), Enyimba also has unresolved arbitration issues with Stephen Chukwude (N5m) and Chijioke Akuneto (N1.2m).
