Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old woman, Fatima Abubakar, in Yola South Local Government Area of the state for allegedly torturing two toddlers under her care.
Confirming the arrest on Monday, the state police spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, said investigations revealed that she subjected the children to abuse because they urinated and defecated inside the house.
The police took Abubakar into custody after it was revealed that she had physically assaulted a two-year-old girl and a young boy.
Nguroje said, “Neighbours reported that Fatima, who is childless, had a history of maltreating the children, including denying them food and warning others not to interfere in her affairs.”
The police spokesman explained that the suspect confessed to the crimes after she was arrested on Saturday.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, has ordered that she be charged to court.
