The Lesotho Football Association wishes to inform the football fraternity that the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier between Lesotho against Central African Republic scheduled for Thursday, November 14th at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, will be played behind closed doors.
LeFA has established from its past experiences that matches fixtured for midweek attracts very low spectator numbers, which unfortunately comes at a huge cost to the Association.
Playing behind closed doors will save the Lesotho Football Association over M100,000 of security and Stadium fees that have to be paid when the match is played with spectators and Likuena matches have attracted a low number of spectators since the team was forced to host its matches in South Africa since Setsoto Stadium was suspended from hosting international matches.
Several other nations hosting their matches outside their countries such as Namibia have been playing their matches behind closed to avoid paying high Stadium and security fees.
The LeFA leadership has therefore taken a resolution that it will allow spectators for the next match, which is the African Nations Championship second round, first leg match against Angola, where stakes will be higher and likely to played on the weekend to allow spectators to drive in big numbers from Lesotho.
