After firing Erik ten Hag on Monday, Manchester United is reportedly in negotiations with Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim to take over as manager.
After a terrible start to the season, Ten Hag was fired, and Ruud van Nistelrooy, a former Red Devils striker, was appointed interim manager.
According to a number of media sites, including Sky Sports, The Sun, the Daily Mail, and the Athletic, Amorim, who is now in charge of Sporting Lisbon, is nearing an agreement to take over at Old Trafford.
Amorim, 39, is regarded as one of the top young coaches in Europe.
After Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool this year, he was frequently mentioned as a candidate for the manager position; however, Dutch coach Arne Slot ended up moving to Anfield instead.
Before expressing regret for the time, Amorim also discussed taking David Moyes’ place at West Ham, a Premier League team.
Amorim earned his second league title with Sporting last season, and he was only 36 when he guided the team to their first in 19 years in 2021.
He will take over a team that is now in 14th place in the Premier League if he is hired by United.
On Sunday, they lost to West Ham for the fourth time in nine league games.
