FA Slam Chelsea,Forest With Fine For Indiscipline

by admin

Nottingham Forest and Chelsea were fined £125,000 and £40,000, respectively, for their inability to maintain player discipline during their Premier League match earlier this month.

The incident that occurred in the last moments of the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on October 6 led to both teams admitting to a Football Association charge.

The on-field altercation started after Forest defender Neco Williams shoved Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella into Blues boss Enzo Maresca.

Notwithstanding the fact that both clubs accepted wrongdoing, an independent regulatory body stated that the penalty should take into account the fact that it was still a “serious incident involving a large number of players from both sides.”

Because this was only Chelsea’s third such event in five seasons, and Forest’s sixth in the previous three, it imposed a higher sanction on the club.

The commission found no indication that Forest is “addressing what is now becoming a serial problem” and cited the club’s “lack of contrition” and dismal recent record as aggravating factors.

Chelsea and Forest were initially fined £50,000 and £150,000, respectively, but both were later lowered for acknowledging the charge.
