A Kano High Court, Presided over by Justice Sunusi Ado Maaji, has given the State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSAIC, the go-ahead to conduct Saturday’s local government election.

In his Judgement, Friday, in Kano, Justice Maaji affirmed that his Judgement and that of the Federal High Court presided over by Justice Simon Amobede, have concurrent jurisdiction over the matter at hand.

He said the judgment given is according to the laws of the land and as a state issue, gives him more powers over the Judgment of the Federal High Court.

Speaking on the latest judgement, the Legal Counsel to the Commission, Muntari Garba Dandago who is also Commissioner of Legal Voters Matters of KANSAIC, said the judgment is a landmark one which affirmed their powers to conduct the election.

He added that the judgment has also directed the Police and all other security agencies to ensure that they give full protection and coverage of the Local government elections on Saturday.
