Thomas Kojo named new coach for Liberia’s Lone Star

by admin

The Liberia Football Association, in consultation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has appointed Thomas Kojo as interim head coach of the men’s senior national team, the Lone Star.

He will lead the team in the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers and the remaining matches of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

In addition to his coaching duties, Kojo will select his own backroom staff ahead of the competitions. His appointment follows the resignation of Romanian coach Mario Marinicã.

The Lone Star will face Sierra Leone in the first round of the CHAN qualifiers, with the first leg scheduled for 25-27 October and the second leg between 1-3 November.

Later in November, the team will play Togo at home and Algeria away in the final two rounds of the AFCON qualifiers.
