N70,000 Minimum Wage: Yobe govt constitutes 10-man committee

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has approved the constitution of a 10-member committee on the new National minimum wage recently approved by the federal government.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Head of Civil Service, Hamidu M. Alhaji on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali is the Committee’s Chairman, while the Head of the Civil Service is the Co-Chairman.

It named the Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Shuaibu Ibrahim Amshi and the Permanent Secretary of Public Service Office of the Head of Service, Alh Dr. Bukar Kilo as the committee’s secretary and co-secretary.

Other members of the Committee include: the Commissioners of Finance, Alh. Mohammed Abatcha Geidam, Budget and Economic Planning, Alh. Garba Gagiyo, Local Govt and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Adamu Jajere, the State Accountant General and Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Mukhtar Musa Tarabutu and TUC, Bulama Musa.

The statement said that the Committee would, among other terms of reference, work out modalities on the successful implementation of the new national minimum wage in the state.

“The Committee will also determine the financial implication of the implementation of the new minimum wage at the State and Local Government in addition, to making recommendations for government consideration”, it added.
