FIFA has formally imposed a ban on Young Africans SC, a Tanzanian football club, preventing it from registering new players internationally. The measure comes after the club failed to meet financial obligations toward Hafiz Konkoni, the claimant in the matter.
According to the letter signed by Americo Espallargas, Head of Disciplinary at FIFA, the ban will remain in place until the outstanding amount owed to Konkoni is fully paid. If the payment is not made within the next three full and consecutive registration periods, additional disciplinary actions may be requested by the claimant through the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
FIFA has instructed that if the ban has not yet been implemented at the national level, the Tanzania Football Federation must enforce it without delay, prohibiting Young Africans SC from registering new players domestically as well.
The letter emphasizes that the ban will only be lifted upon receipt of the total due amount, including any applicable interest. Should the payment remain unsettled beyond the specified registration windows, Konkoni reserves the right to request further sanctions, including an extension of the ban.
This decision reflects FIFA’s strict enforcement of financial fairness in football, ensuring that clubs honor their financial commitments. Young Africans SC now faces the challenge of resolving the dispute promptly to avoid prolonged sanctions that could impact its competitive capabilities.
The letter was also copied to the Tanzania Football Federation and to Konkoni via Islam Hisham, signaling the urgency and seriousness of the situation.
