Chinyere Mercy Kalu has expressed her excitement after linking up with Spanish club Real Betis.

Kalu, who was unveiled by the Andalusian club on Thursday, put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

The 18-year-old played for Nigeria Women’s Football League club, Nasarawa Amazons, before moving abroad.

“Thank you so much. I’m so excited. I’m happy. I’m very much excited to be here in Real Betis,” the midfielder told the club’s official website.

“I had a chance to speak with my teammates and my coach; they are so friendly to me. They welcomed me well and I’m very happy about that.

“I’m a creative midfielder and I’m here to support the team to give my best and to make sure we get there.”

Kalu represented Nigeria at the U-17 and U-20 levels.

She also once played in Nigeria for Martins White Dove FC, Osun Babes FC and Rivers Angels FC.
