At the end of his contract next June, Luis Enrique has extended his contract with Paris Saint-Germain for two more years. An extension that demonstrates the confidence the Parisian club has in its Spanish coach and its new project.
In the summer of 2023, Luis Enrique succeeded Christophe Galtier on the bench of Paris Saint-Germain, for two seasons. With his arrival, the Parisian club aspired to a new project, more focused on the collective and not on “star” players. Thus, the Parisian club got rid of some strong figures like Neymar, Lionel Messi and Marco Verratti, to make way for experienced players, followers of his philosophy, and young players with very high potential.
At the end of his first season, the former coach of Spain had won the three national trophies – Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions – and had reached the last four of the Champions League. A solid record for a team in reconstruction that has strengthened the confidence of the PSG management in him, to the point of offering him a contract extension.
Extension of two additional years for Luis Enrique
While for several weeks, a possible contract extension was considered, the main interested party had not mentioned it during press briefings or during his rare interviews. But, according to information from RMC Sport, the marriage between Luis Enrique and PSG will continue beyond this season. The former Barça coach is in the process of extending his contract for two more years, until 2027.
Le Parisien adds, for its part, that Luis Enrique’s new lease has even already been signed and that the official announcement from the Parisian club is just around the corner. Luis Enrique will also be able to count on Luis Campos, since the Portuguese sports advisor will also extend his contract with the capital club, he who had been announced close to AS Monaco a few months ago. The Luis Enrique-Luis Campos duo will therefore continue to work hand in hand at PSG, alongside Nasser Al-Khelaifi, to grow the Parisian club and enable it to achieve its objectives.
