Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to depart Abuja for a two-day working visit to Sweden, representing Nigeria in key bilateral discussions.

This visit, at the request of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aims to strengthen ties between Nigeria and the Scandinavian nation.

Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications (Office of The Vice President), in a statement on Wednesday said during the visit, Shettima would engage in high-level talks with key Swedish government officials, including Crown Princess Victoria and the Swedish Prime Minister.

He said the discussions would focus on enhancing collaboration in areas such as ICT, innovation, education, digitalisation, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.

In addition to his government meetings, Shettima will meet with private sector stakeholders, including representatives from Norrsken, a Stockholm-based venture capital impact investor.

Norrsken recently launched Norrsken22, a $205 million tech investment fund for Africa, with 40% of its investments earmarked for Nigerian technology entrepreneurs. The meeting will explore how Nigerian startups can leverage this fund to boost the country’s growing tech ecosystem.

Accompanying Shettima will be twelve Nigerian private sector companies independently attending the meetings as a business delegation to further strengthen Nigeria-Sweden business relations.

Throughout the visit, the Vice President will also articulate Nigeria’s economic vision and highlight the reforms being implemented by the Tinubu administration to foster a more business-friendly environment for investors. He will showcase the vast investment opportunities available in Africa’s largest economy.

VP Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria on Saturday.
